Citizens for Sensible Growth in Sarasota County (CSG) is a  volunteer, non-partisan, grass-roots  organization of your neighbors concerned about maintaining the good quality of life in Sarasota County, Florida.

Our board members include neighborhood, environmental and civic leaders, a retired teacher, housewives, small business owners, and residents concerned about what  overdevelopment is doing to Sarasota County.

CSG Members reflect the views of  the vast majority of Sarasota County citizens who surveys show are very concerned about overdevelopment and the traffic congestion and the higher taxes it brings . Won't you join us?

ABOUT  CSG

• On March 13, 2007: Voters approved CSG's first initiativeto require coordinated planning by cities and Sarasota County. This initiative is now  a requirement of Sarasota County law.
  

• July 13, 2007 Supervisor of Elections verifies citizens have signed enough petitions (12,525) to place CSG's smart growth/super majority initiative on the November 6, 2007 county election ballot
  

• On November 6, 2007: Voters approved CSG's second initiative requiring a super majority to amend Sarasota County's comprehensive plan to add density or intensity.
  

• December 20, 2007: Supervisor of Elections verifies Sarasota County citizens have signed enough petitions (12,525) to place CSG's smart growth urban service boundary initiative on the  Sarasota County ballot.
  

• May 6, 2008: Sarasota County voters approve anti-sprawl law in landslide vote. seventy-nine percent vote yes to protect rural areas.
  

• August 2008 --We are now defending your right to amend county law by  petition. Help us, Vote no on two county charter amendments.
