What CSG has done & what it's working on ?
On March 13, 2007: Voters approved CSG's first initiative to require coordinated planning by cities and Sarasota County. This initiative is now a requirement of Sarasota County's Charter.
July 13, 2007 Supervisor of Elections verifies Sarasota County citizens have signed enough petitions (12,525) to place CSG's smart growth/super majority initiative on the November 6, 2007 county election ballot
On November 6, 2007: Voters approved CSG's second initiative requiring a super majority to amend Sarasota County's comprehensive plan to add density or intensity.
December 20, 2007: Supervisor of Elections verifies Sarasota County citizens have signed enough petitions (12,525) to place CSG's smart growth urban service boundary initiative on the Sarasota County ballot.
March 2008: CSG Board unanimously approves a new"consensus" anti-sprawl charter amendment, asks county commissioners to place it on May 6, 20008 ballot.
March 24, 2008: County commissioners let the voters decide by placing strong anti-sprawl "consensus" charter amendment on ballot.
May 6, 2008: Sarasota County voters go to polls to vote on strongest possible growth control measure. Vote Yes on May 6
